I want to live in a world where design makes all of our lives better.
Working across the spectrum of social development and economic development has allowed me to apply design thinking in multiple contexts – from women’s health to economic strategy for creative industries, to export business. I currently work as an independent consultant, assisting public and private sector organisations build design and innovation capability. My specific focus is using design to foster more inclusive and human centered workplaces and societies.
As the former Head of Design for New Zealand’s international trade agency, I have worked at the coalface of applying design thinking to business. I have also been a strong advocate for the adoption of design thinking and service design within the public sector.
Bringing design thinking into the boardroom is another area of focus. I am a Ministerial appointee to the Council of AUT University, an Honorary Life Member of the New Zealand Designers Institute, and a former President of the Gay Business Association.
